With the uncertainty that we are living through today, it is not exactly easy to plan a wedding in the time of Covid. So here are Ludic’s top five tips for our “Covid Couples”.

Draw the line

We all have our dream wedding, and you are not crazy for wanting it to be perfect! Discuss with your partner where you will draw the line on postpinning the big day. With Venues beginning to open back up more and more this should become easier.

Your line is up to you and your partner and no one else! For example, are you willing to take your 100 guest count down to 50? Are you okay with social distancing on the dance floor? Is it okay if some of your elderly family cannot attend? Are you okay with guests being required to wear masks? These are some of those circumstances that may make you want to postpone the big day, so discuss these with your partner and have a solid line drawn for what will have to happen for you to postpone.

When booking vendors ask them about Rescheduling policies

In the past year, we have seen a huge increase in people postponing and canceling weddings due to COVID, venders have to continue to make money, so some vendors are adding a rescheduling fee. We recommend to our couples that when you are reaching out to vendors ask them if they have a rescheduling fee and what are the company COVID policies!

Have a micro or mini wedding

When COVID hit we saw an increase in Micro and Mini weddings (approximately 25 or less guests). You could choose to have a smaller gathering with just immediate family on your original date and then have your big dream wedding as a vow renewal as a year later, this would be the big wedding you have been planning the only difference is you are legally married already! If you want to get it over and done with then you can have a small service with a small number of people and splurge on those people, Make it your dream wedding but for 25 people instead of 200! There are so many opportunities to be creative and still have your dream wedding.

Keep guests informed

If you do not have one already make a wedding website! We have seen an increased use of wedding websites as guests search for any information on changes. The website can have updates on COVID guidelines for your state and county as well as any travel restrictions guests need to be aware of. The website is a great and easy way to share immediate updates to all your guests at once. You can also mail out a postponement card, another version of a save the date that says, “Save The New Date”. This card can have any details that are new because of restrictions as well as the new date.

Create multiple guest lists

If you haven’t sent out any save the dates or invites, we recommend creating multiple guest lists. Make a top 25, top 50, top 100 and so forth. This will make it easier to send out batches of saving the dates and invites. You will not send all invites at once but in groups making sure your guest count will always be following the county guidelines!

Overall try not to let COVID ruin your wedding planning fun. It’s important to know that your guests (hopefully!) won’t take it personally if you have to uninvite them based on Covid restrictions/regulations. Do what feels best for you and your partner and most importantly make it your dream day.

The biggest frustration of planning this year is that you are essentially planning multiple weddings! Your plan A, B, C, and maybe even D. It can be hard to navigate that all by yourselves, reach out to us to see if one of our planning packages can help you navigate the Covid planning challenge!
